You may have noticed that the volume of your brand new Airpods seems to fluctuate or that one of them is not as loud as it should be.
This can lead some to question whether my Airpods work and, if they do, why is one of my AirPods louder than the other?
This issue is mostly caused due to a difference in pressure between your ears due to anatomical differences, which creates variations in sound pressure levels at the eardrums.
However, there is so much more that you need to know about this frequently asked question.
So, why is one of my Airpods louder than the other? Keep reading and you’ll surely get there.

Part 1:Solutions to fix Airpods Louder Than the Other
1. Change AirPods Volume Settings In The App
First things first. Let’s start with the basics and change the volume of your Airpods in the app of your choice.
If you don’t do this, then it will not make any difference if you try anything else because everything will be at its default value (which is probably too low for your ears).
You can do this on your iPhone or iPad, through the Apple app.
It is the most common way to fix one of AirPods louder than the other.

2. Use A Different App to Play Music or Podcasts
If you still have a problem after changing your volume settings, try using a different app for audiobooks and music.
If you use both apps on your device then one of my AirPods louder than the other could come as a result of the different volume levels in each one.

3. Change Your Configuration Settings
If you are using iCloud, for example, you might want to check if your configuration settings are set to “mirror” or “separate.”
This is especially important for AirPods louder than the other if you have two devices available since their volume levels will be different.

4. Clean Airpods and Your Device
Airpods and iPhones, like other devices, get dusty and this can affect their performance to cause AirPods louder than the others.
Try cleaning your Apple products to see if this makes a difference in the volume of each Airpod.

5. Set iPhone EQ Setting to “U-Bass” Level 6 or -6 dB
Depending on your personal preferences, you might want to give this solution a try.
You need to change an option in your device’s EQ settings so that the overall bass response is slightly increased for each Airpod you are using.
The best thing about this set is that it will not increase any distortion in the sound signal which could have negative consequences over time when listening to high volumes.
A lot of people have tried this fix using positive results and given great reviews of the U-Bass setting.

Here are some things I would like to add because not everyone is very familiar with technology or how it works so they might have problems following certain steps even though they are easy ones:
Step 1: Make sure that both earbuds are sitting in your ears properly and fit securely before trying anything else.
If they don’t, try adjusting them accordingly.
The correct way to place them in your ears is with the stem pointing downwards.
If you insert them like earphones (with the stem facing towards your face), then they won’t fit correctly and sound won’t be distributed equally.
Step 2: Make sure that both Airpods are fully charged before starting any troubleshooting steps.
I’ve noticed that sometimes one of my AirPods is lower because its battery isn’t full so it will not work properly or at full capacity.
Once you place them in your ears, wait for a couple of minutes to see if they connect properly without any interference from outside sources.
Part 2:Why Is One of My Airpods Louder Than the Other
1. Anatomical Differences in Your Ears
The first reason for one of your AirPods being louder than the other is the anatomical difference.
Making a fair comparison between AirPods is impossible if you have different-sized ears or ear canals.
This, as we’ve already mentioned above, is the most common reason why one of my Airpods louder than the other.
The sound pressure level at your eardrum will depend on the difference in the volume of sound entering each ear.
If your ears are anatomically different, which is more than likely, then one Airpod will be louder than the other and it may make you think that your AirPods don’t work at all.

2. Earpod Hardware Or Software Issue
Another likely cause AirPods being louder than the other is an issue such as a hardware or software fault.
If you think about it, one Airpod might be faulty and this could affect its volume output relative to the other if both are not working at total capacity.

3. Volume Difference Between Airpods and Your iPhone
Now that we’ve talked about the anatomical difference between your ears and the volume difference that can result from it, we should also mention the impact of your iPhone’s volume.
Your iPhone is where all the magic begins and, therefore, any issue with its amplification (or de-amplification) may also affect the final volume levels of each Airpod.
If you listen to music from your iPhone using both Airpods but one of them is lower, then it might be a result of the volume levels between your phone and earphones.
4. Distance Between Your Ears and the Airpods
If you are playing music from your iPhone through both Airpods but one of them is lower, then this could be due to how far or close each pod is to your ear.
The closer it is, the louder.
If this isn’t optimal, try repositioning one of the pods so that it fits inside your ear canal more comfortably.

5. The Airpods Are Losing Signal Strength
One of your Airpods might be lower because its Bluetooth signal strength is weaker than the others.
If this is the case then one of my AirPods louder than the other will not go away until you fix it.
If you want to give this try, try moving closer to your iPhone or iPad.
These are the most likely reasons why is one airport louder than the other.
If you feel like any of these could be your potential problem, below are some ways you can fix this issue on your own.
